Here are some of the many ways that high school teens can get involved at St. Raphael.
Youth Mass: The 6pm Mass at St. Raphael is geared toward youth. Music is led by the Youth Band, and lector and ushers are all high school teens. This is a great way to do service for the parish and worship with peers!
Sunday Youth Group: Most Sundays from 7-9pm, high school teens are invited to a youth group night. These nights include catechesis, prayer, and discussion as well as food and fun!
COVID-19 UPDATE: We are still meeting in person on Sunday nights! All participants are required to wear masks and we will meet outside in the Youth Center parking lot.
Retreats: Every fall and spring, youth group goes on retreats based on different themes. Retreats are a chance for teens to get away for a weekend and spend time in prayer, learning, and friendship. Youth group also attends the annual Mount 2000 retreat at Mount St. Mary's.
Monthly Socials: Youth Ministry hosts a social once a month, on a day other than Sunday. These socials include things like Bubbleball, an all-night Lock Out, ice skating, open gym, etc.
Theology of the Body for Teens: Periodically, high school teens are invited to the Theology of the Body series study. During these weekly meetings, teens learn more about who they are and how to live, especially about relationships and sexuality. These sessions are based on Pope St. John Paul II's
Theology of the Body and use the
Ascension Press "Theology of the Body for Teens" videos and workbooks.
Service Opportunities: Youth Group offers periodic service opportunities for high school youth such as serving with the Missionaries of Charity or volunteering at a crisis pregnancy center.
Rockville Catholic Summer Program: "RCSP" is a seven week summer camp run by St. Raphael and St. Patrick Youth Ministries. Teens and college-age young people are invited to volunteer or apply for employment for part or all of their summer. Check out details at
